I know who the Doodlebops are...

...and perhaps even more disturbingly, I think I like them.

The culture of babyhood and parenthood is a whole different world. Cool, and kinda creepy at times when I really stop to think about it. So now I shall list some random thoughts and observations about things that have changed in my life since becoming a parent 14 months ago, because mommy brain is too tired to be poignant tonight.

Random List of Parenthood Babble

1. I have the Doodlebops theme song in my head as I drive in to work, and I'm ok with that.
2. I now know that I hate Winnie the Pooh. OK, hate is a strong word. I strongly dislike the Pooh bear. First, his name is freakin' Pooh. Second, he's slow and boring and has no real value to his stories. There's not enough character development in the books or the TV show to satisfy me. (I think I just lost 80% of the mom bloggers out there. Sorry ladies, gotta be honest in my blog. I am not down with Winnie)
3. The word "poo," on the other hand, or its more formal version "poop," is used at least a dozen times in my house each day.
4. I know who the Wiggles are, and I don't like them either. Not one bit. Creepy old men dancing around with little kids...something fishy about that...
5. No matter where I am, I always have an emergency stash of Cheerios for hunger fits (Boo's and mine).
6. I now know that the Koala Brothers have a cool theme song too, and they like to help people and have cool Down Under accents.
7. Robeez are the best shoes in the whole world. Note to Robeez: please make some in a size 5.5 W. I like the ones with the monkeys.
8. Getting ready to go requires prep time...to get ready to get ready to go.
9. You really can't ever have enough. Of anything. When you think you do, that's when you'll be SOL in a high-end store with poopy wee babe and no diaper wipes.
10. Organic is awesome, but fast food is equally important to survive.
11. You really do need 8 hours of sleep.
12. You'll never get 8 hours of sleep.
13. Things that were important yesterday are trivial today (or you'll forget about them, same thing).
14. Online shopping rocks.
15. A clean floor is very important. Only because your baby will eat everything that is on the floor.
16. I can move at lightening speed and my reflexes are spot on. Boo is training me well.
17. Baby Einstein is a genius.
18. Learning how to be a human is a really, really complex and difficult thing, and yet babies do it so quickly.
19. Watching a tiny human being learn to be a human being is the coolest thing in the world.
20. Being a parent is the most awesome experience EVER. It is the greatest high, the most satisfying job, the most rewarding and most demanding. It is the most beautiful thing in the entire universe.

I have no idea who the Doodlebops are! LOL.

I had the same thought about the Wiggles! I was shopping at Target the other day, and was browsing through the VCR/CD section, and saw a picture of them. I had no idea that they were that "old"! I just expected them to look more youthful.

Winnie-the-Pooh is not my favorite character either, even though I do think he looks cute...despite him being a 'bear of little brain'.

The Wiggles used to scare the crap out of me, they were my sister's favorite show. Now them dancin Doodlebops come on, and I could live with just about any show. I hate them. But then again, Nick Jr's LazyTown is very hypocritical and just as stupid. Whats with this pink haired loud- mouth trend I'm seeing on preschool shows these days? Maybe it's just me. And about Pooh, I love him and his shows. But just one thing turns me off. The name, come on, what kind of TV show is named after bodily functions!!!!!

I can't stop singing the doodlebops song either! I'm okay with that too.

The whole REASON I'm on this site is because I've had the Doodlebops theme in my head since I got to work. So that made me go online and type in Doodlebops in Google and it brought me to your site! I think there is some odd subliminal message in the "doo doo da doo doo doo" in the themesong!

I'm glad I found this site, because your blog could have been written by me! I am sure we share a lot of the same thoughts!

Very insightful...made me tear up, but I am currently pregnant with my fourth...so everything makes me tear up...so pathetic, huh? And, since I am pregnant with my fourth, I can watch anything that entertains the kids for a half hour or two while I get caught up on life. Geez, some days with what's on TV, I'd prefer to watch singing and dancing from kooky people - much better than hearing the new death toll in the Middle East!

I watched the doodlebops for 30 minutes, about an hour ago, and have come to the conclusion that if there is a hell, that all individuals would have their own hell to make their eternal stay in hell the worst it could possibly be, and my hell would be to watch that show forever. Needless to say i had to hide my gun from myself. the wiggles are 10 times better, they have a pirate.

The Doodlebops USED to annoy me, and then I realized how happy they made my 2 year old. Isn't their happiness all that's important? I mean, we wanted them, right? So you guys should stop bitching about different shows and focus on what makes your child happy, and be happy yourself that these characters entertain your child (by the way, I also have a 5 month old) for a half an hour. Besides, we all grew up with Mr. Dressup and nobody says he's creepy. He was old and played with puppets. So be glad your child likes to learn about sharing with others and is learning songs and dancing along. At least your child isn't being blown up.

My two sons, ages 5 & 3, love both the "Doodlebops" & the "Wiggles" (they even have a couple of the Wiggles' DVDs). My two love music & dancing, so I'm fine with them watching both shows.

I will have to admit, though, that I thought the "Doodlebops" were about the most idiotic show to come along since the "Booh-bahs" and I absolutely HATE the "Booh-bahs"!

After sitting down with the boys & watching a couple of the "Doodlebops" shows, though, I've changed my mind about them -- they rock! And I appreciate that they don't limit themselves to just one style of music -- the few times I've watched with my sons, I've heard rock, rap, jazz, and ballads. And it's all been pretty upbeat, too!

Besides, I can think of much worse kids' shows for my boys to watch.

p.s. I agree -- Moe is kinda cute (and I'm almost 41).

i have a two year old and a 13 month old and one on the way. both of my kids as well as me LOVE the doodle dops. i agree moe is cute lol anyway i like the doodle dops more then the wiggles because the wiggles dont teach life lessons in all that dancing the doodle bops do. i wont let my kids watch some shows like elmos world (hello has anyone else noticed he draws on the walls and the funiture) and clown with the big couch (cleaning up means shoving everything under the coach cusions and i dont want to sit on a toy thank you) and as for older men being creepy on kids shows hey lawrence fishborn (morphius from the martix) was on peewees play house as that cow boy and he rocks. and one last thing on the doodle bops i love the theme song i sing it all the time so there lol

I love your blog! I laughed so hard at your entry. Four months ago, I became the mother of two wonderful foster sons, age 1 - 9 months apart. I came across your blog doing a google search on the DoodleBops. They are miraculous - and my almost-2-year old is seriously obsessed with them!

I am so embarrassed that I agree with everything you said! I swore to myself that I wouldn't be one of "those" moms, and here I am every morning, singing "Get on the Bus, it's time to go" as I buckle my son in...what have I become!
I have never enjoyed Pooh either...his name is Pooh for God's sake.
I am just glad to know that I am not the only closet Doodlebop fan. I have used more than one of Dee Dee's Knock Knock jokes recently *sigh* ahhh motherhood..

My 2 year old daughter is obsessed with the doodlebops and watches them everyday and cries when it time to turn them off and does not want anybody to watch anything else. It has gotten so bad that I have recently started to record them on to DVD so she has her endless supply of her so called “booboobops”
I think it is even sadder that I know all of the doodlebops songs but I guess that is what fatherhood is all about.

Ok I read through some of the post and I have to say I completely dislike the Wiggles I don't know why kids watch it but their kids at a certain age they'll watch anything my nephew is 2 and he'll sit still and watch Wheel of Fortune completely loves it as for Pooh come on he's Winnie the Pooh snuggle and all gotta love it. I can say I don't dislike the Doodlebops I rather enjoy it compared to other shows on and the singing isn't all bad it is rather entertaining you may even catch yourself singing with it or hummy it plus Deedee is a hottie.
